PASADENA, CA -- The Stags completed a three-game sweep of the
Caltech Beavers with an 11-0 victory in the 8th inning
on Friday at Bill Arce Field and two victories (19-0, 16-1) on
Saturday at North Field in Pasadena. The Stags move to 4-2 in the
conference and are tied for second in the SCIAC. The Beavers are
winless this season (0-7, 0-6 SCIAC).
In the first game, Alex Sunderland pitched for the Stags,
pitching seven innings with four strikeouts and ten hits. Max Rose
was 2-2 with four RBI's and a triple. Anthony
Bouvier (JR, San Carlos) scored three runs and hit 3-4 for the
afternoon. The three errors by Caltech did not help their cause, as
they allowed 11 runs and 14 hits in Game 1.
On Saturday, the Stags could not have asked for a more perfect
day. The bats were hot for the Stags as they scored 19 runs on 21
hits. Ten of the Stag's 15 hitters had at least one RBI and 12 of
the Stag hitters scored a run. David Ulrich (SO,
Summit, NJ) pitched a no-hitter with nine strikeouts, one BB and
one HBP. Matt
Rothlisberger (JR, Friday Harbor, WA) had a standout day by
hitting 3-3 with three RBIs, a homerun and scoring one run.
In the last game of the day, the Stags jumped to a quick lead
with a 6-run 2nd inning and a 6-run 4th
inning. The Stags scored 16 runs on 13 hits. Travis
Nishioka (SR, Honolulu, HI) had a great game as the starting
designated hitter by going 2-2 with two RBIs, three runs scored,

(SO, Kenmore, WA) pitched a three-hitter with 11 strikeouts and
only two BBs.
CMS will play four straight non-conference home games this week
starting with La Sierra University on Feb. 23 at 2:00 PM. They will
also have a three-game series with Willamette University (Salem,
OR) on Feb. 26 (2:30 PM) and Feb 27 (11:00 AM and 2:30 PM).
