CMS Stags Tennis, ranked #1 nationally in Division III, won a
9-0 conference decision against against Chapman at the Anaheim
Hills Racquet Club on Friday. Nine Stags contributed to the
shutout, which was CMS' 17th win of the season.
After earning their fourth straight doubles sweep against a
Division III opponent, the Stags took a 3-0 lead into the singles
and capitalized early. Senior Neel Kotrappa (La Verne, CA) was first
off for CMS with his 6-2, 6-1 win at #6 singles. Junior Warren Wood (Del Mar, CA) was one of
three Stags to win in both doubles and singles, clinching the dual
match with his win at #1 for his fifteenth of the season. Freshmen
Max Macey (Wilton, CT) and Glenn Hull (Brookings, OR) won at #4
and #5 singles for their sixth wins without the loss of a set this
spring. Sophomores Skyler Butts (Santa Ana, CA) and Lestter Yeh (Arcadia, CA) rounded out
the scoring for the Stags with straight set wins at #2 and #3
singles. Butts is now 19-1 in singles, while Yeh is 8-2.
Next up for CMS is a Saturday 10:00 AM SCIAC match at #15
