BEAUMONT, Calif. -
Esther Lee shot an even-par 72 on Tuesday's second round to help the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's golf team edge out host Redlands by one stroke to take third at the Bulldog Fall Invitational at Morongo Golf Club at Tukwet Canyon.
CMS shot +37 as a team over the 36 holes, while playing without three of the five golfers who were part of the Athenas' NCAA contingent from a year ago. CMS also was shorthanded with only four golfers available for Tuesday's second round, but managed to hold off Redlands for third.
Lee moved up six spots on Tuesday with her 72 to finish in a tie for sixth place at +4 out of 49 golfers. Liana Brown of George Fox led three players in the red with a -8.
Emily Zhou also earned a top-10 for the Athenas with a 74 on Tuesday to move up two spots and tie for 10th at +6.
Stella Cheng was one shot behind in 12th after also shooting a 74 on Tuesday. Pomona-Pitzer took the team title, while George Fox was second.
CMS will close out the fall schedule with a dual match against La Verne on Oct. 20 at Via Verde Country Club.
