CMS Volleyball Rolls To Season-Opening Win over MCLA

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Georgia McGovern had kills on all five of her attacks, to go along with 25 assists and seven service aces, as the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's volleyball team opened the 2024 season with a 25-9, 25-7, 25-10 win over the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts on Friday evening at Roberts Pavilion. 

The Athenas open the season at 1-0, while MCLA falls to 0-2 after losing to Chapman earlier in the day as well.

Shae Delany added six kills and matched McGovern with seven service aces. Dani Beder tied Delany with six kills in nine attempts, as CMS hit .364 as a team. 

Ashlee Sento added four kills for the Athenas in her first collegiate match, while Brenna Bell and Lauren Parker added four. Dede Carranza led the defense with 14 digs, while Beder had four blocks. 

CMS will conclude the Pacific Coast Classic tomorrow with a pair of games against Centre (10 a.m.) and Wisconsin-River Falls (1 p.m.).
