SAN DIMAS, Calif. - The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's golf team had three players finish with 74s as it took a season-opening dual win over La Verne by six strokes (304-310) on Friday at Via Verde Country Club.

Ryan Liang each shot +2 to tie for second overall behind only Trevor Ruiz of La Verne, who shot even par. Jay Wing and Manuel Huerta of La Verne tied for fifth at +5, three shots behind the CMS trio.
The Stags were making their first appearance of the 2024-25 season after a year in which they came in 13th at the NCAA Division III Championships. Ma was the SCIAC Athlete of the Year after winning the league's individual medalist award at the conference championships for the second time in his career, while Tan was an honorable mention All-American in his rookie season.
CMS will be back in action on Friday when it competes in a tri-match hosted by Chapman at Costa Mesa Country Club.
