JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. - The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's golf team shot -9 as a team to move up four spots on the final day of the three-round Jekyll Island Invitational on Sunday, finishing tied for fifth (out of 30) at -16.
Huntingdon earned the team title at -38, followed by Washington and Lee (-28), Sewanee (-25) and Carnegie Mellon (-22). CMS and Kenyon tied at -16, one shot ahead of Methodist and Illinois Wesleyan.
Samson Li earned a top-10 finish (out of 150 competitors) at -9 for his three rounds, which included a 66 on Friday (-6) and a -3 on his final round on Sunday. Li's opening round featured an eagle on the par-4 eighth hole to take the turn at -4, and a birdie on 18 to close at -6.Â
Li's final round on Sunday featured a birdie on his first hole and back-to-back birdies on No. 6 and No. 7, before finishing with a 69 to end up seven shots behind individual medalist Turner Chiles of Sewanee (-16).Â
Sebi Aliaga joined Li with a -3 on Sunday's final round, getting at eagle on the 18th hole to close out and put him in the red for the tournament at -1, which placed him 45th.Â
Logan Mills shot a 65 on Saturday, in a round which saw him close with three birdies on his final five holes to close at -7, getting back into the red after a 78 on his first round of Saturday. He finished at -2 for the tournament, which placed him 34th.Â
Jamison Tan closed out with a 71 and a 70 in his final two rounds for the Stags, whileÂ
Ryan Liang also had a 71 on Friday, as all five CMS entrants had at least one round under par.Â
CMS will be back in action for SCIAC No. 2, which will be held at Tukwet Canyon on April 3-4.Â
