CLAREMONT, Calif. - Goalkeeper
Miles Demarest of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's soccer team earned the SCIAC Defensive Player of the Week Award for games through Sunday. Oct. 19, the conference office announced today.
Demarest came back from injury to give a standout performance in a key 2-0 win over Pomona-Pitzer on Saturday night, tallying eight saves on the day. He had five of his saves in a six-minute flurry with CMS clinging to a 1-0 lead in the second half, before the Stags added an insurance goal in the 82nd minute from Chris Kim.
It marks the second week in a row that CMS has earned the SCIAC Defensive Player of the Week honor, after
Ben Bacdayan captured it last week. Bacdayan had a goal and cleared a ball of the line late to preserve a tie at Occidental last week.
CMS steps out of conference on Wednesday for a home game with UC Santa Cruz at 7 p.m., before facing La Verne on the road on Saturday at 7 p.m.
