George Kruger Earns D3football National Team of the Week Honors

CLAREMONT, Calif. - George Kruger of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps football team earned a spot on the D3football.com National Team of the Week for games through Sunday, Oct. 19, the website announced this morning.

Kruger had a career-high 20 tackles, 11 solo, to help CMS to a comeback overtime win over La Verne. He had seven of his tackles in the fourth quarter alone, as he had a key role in helping the Stags come back from a 16-6 fourth-quarter deficit to tie the game at the end of regulation and win it 22-19 in overtime. He also finished with 1.5 sacks and a forced fumble on the afternoon.

It marks the second time this season that Kruger has earned weekly accolades. He was also the SCIAC Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 24, after forcing a fumble with just over a minute to go in a comeback win at George Fox. He has also been the SCIAC Field Athlete of the Week in the spring for his performance in the javelin, on his way to earning second-team All-America last year.

CMS will be back in action when it travels to Chapman on Saturday night for a 7 p.m. contest.
