LA VERNE, Calif. - Reigning SCIAC Offensive Player of the Year Mya Ray had 19 kills, including kills on the final two points of the match, as the No. 1 ranked La Verne volleyball team remained undefeated with a 25-20, 25-20, 25-20 win over Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Saturday evening.
With the win, La Verne improves to 20-0 overall on the season and 11-0 in the SCIAC, while CMS slips to 14-6 overall and 8-3 in league play.
CMS was led by
Shae Delany with 10 kills, while
Mia Urosevic paced the defense with 15 digs.
The Athenas challenged the Leopards in the third set, pulling ahead 16-10 on a block by
Stella Gajar. CMS also 19-15 and 20-16 on a pair of Delany kills, before La Verne closed on a 9-0 run to take the third set by the same 25-20 score that it took the first two.
CMS will be back in action on Tuesday night when it hosts Redlands for a 7 p.m. contest at Roberts Pavilion.
