EAGLE ROCK, Calif. – 
Brooke McKee had 17 kills, including the set-clinchers in the first two sets, as the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps volleyball team earned a 25-22, 25-21, 25-18 win over Occidental on Friday evening.
With the win, CMS moves to 16-6 overall and 10-3 in the SCIAC, while Occidental falls to 4-16 overall and 2-10 in league play.
The Athenas trailed for most of the first set, but closed on a 6-0 run to turn a 21-19 deficit into a 25-21 win. 
Stella Gajar and 
Phoebe Shorney combined on a block to put the Athenas ahead 22-21, and McKee followed with three kills in a row to finish it off.
CMS also trailed 20-19 in the second set, but used a 5-0 run to go ahead 24-20. Shorney started the run with a kill, Gajar followed with two straight kills, and 
Anna Ryan followed with another to make it 23-20. The Tigers fought off two set points after an error, but McKee finished off her second set of the night with a kill for a 25-22 win and a 2-0 lead in the match.
With the score tied 7-7 in the third set, McKee started a 6-0 run with a kill, while 
Mia Urosevic had three aces in a row during the spurt. The Athenas maintained the lead throughout and then finished off the win on a Shorney kill.
Ryan finished with eight kills in 16 attempts, hitting .438, while Urosevic had 15 digs and eight assists to go with four aces. 
Shae Delany added 14 digs, and 
Samantha Riter had a team-high 19 assists. 
CMS will be back in action tomorrow when it hosts Chapman for a 5 p.m. contest at Roberts Pavilion.
