Mackenzie Mayfield on her way to a new CMS and SCIAC record in the 200 fly
LOS ANGELES, Calif. - Mackenzie Mayfield set a new CMS and SCIAC record in the 200-yard butterfly, Katy Shaw won the 1650 and Izzy Doud earned the SCIAC Diver of the Year Award to highlight the final day of the SCIAC Swimming and Diving Championships on Saturday at East Los Angeles College Swim Stadium.

CMS finished second in the team competition with 886 points, well ahead of Chapman in third with 442.5 points, while Pomona-Pitzer took the team title with 1051.5 points.

Mayfield swam a 2:01.30 in the 200 fly, the final individual event of the championships, breaking the previous record held by Augusta Lewis, and winning the race by 1.43 seconds, while picking up her second individual title of the weekend after also winning the 200 IM. Sun Young Byun finished third to earn All-SCIAC honors.

Doud was honored at the conclusion of the meet after winning both diving boards this weekend, including leading an All-SCIAC podium in the one-meter on Thursday, with Meilan Uyeno second and Alexis Romero third.

Shaw added the 1650 title to her 500 crown from Thursday, finishing in 17:05.49, while Revere Schmidt was second in 17:20.06. Avalon Sanders and Corley Smith were fourth and fifth, as the Athenas had four of the top five to continue their tradition of distance dominance.

On Saturday, Kelly Prawira and Schmidt were finalists in the 200 breast, where Prawira earned fifth place and Schmidt came in eighth. Madeleine Kan and Annika Sharma earned spots in the 100 free finals and finished fourth and eighth. Nika Makhervaks and Samantha Ennis earned spots in the finals in the 200 back, coming in fifth and sixth, respectively.

CMS came in second place in the final event, the 400 free relay, with Mayfield, Byun, Allison Nguyen and Madeleine Kan finishing in 3:29.26 to edge out Cal Lutheran by .25 to hold on to the second-place finish.

The Athenas will next await qualifications to the NCAA Division III Championships next month, while the divers will head to the NCAA Regionals in Grinnell next weekend.
