Stags Golf Nine Shots Back After First Round of SCIAC No. 1

VENTURA, Calif. - The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's golf team stands in sixth place, but is only nine shots back on a crowded leaderboard after the first of two rounds of SCIAC No. 1 at Olivas Links Golf Course. 

Scores were low on opening day with the top five teams all shooting in the red, with unranked Chapman the surprise leader at -5. Cal Lutheran, Pomona-Pitzer and Redlands are all at -2, with La Verne at -1 and CMS at +4. 

Jamison Tan is tied for seventh for the Stags at -1, carding four birdies and 12 pars on his round. Yuefeng (Michael) Ma finished at even par after picking up his fifth birdie of the day on the 18th. 

Connor Conley of Chapman leads the indivdual leaderboard at -6, while William Rinehart of Redlands is at -5. 

The second round of SCIAC No. 1 will get underway tomorrow at 9 a.m.
