AJ Rohosy earned a spot on the All-SCIAC first team in a vote of the league's coaches, while
Caelan Jones and
Neil Owens captured second-team honors in a vote of the league's coaches, the SCIAC announced today.
Rohosy averaged a double-double this season with 21.5 points and 10.0 rebounds per game, including 24.3 points and 11.3 rebounds in conference games. He scored in double figures in every game except one, a blowout win over Southwestern when he had nine points on 3-4 shooting in 23 minutes. Rohosy's season has also included two appearance on the D3hoops.com National Team of the Week, once after scoring 36 points and grabbing 16 rebounds in a 99-97 win over Redlands. He also had the game-winning putback late in the second overtime of a win over Pomona-Pitzer.
Jones averaged 13.4 points and 4.6 rebounds, while knocking down 50 three-pointers on the year. He had 38 points and nine three-pointers in a non-conference win over St. Mary's, had 32 points on 15-21 shooting in a win over Caltech, and tallied a combined 39 points in a season sweep of Pomona-Pitzer.
Owens averaged 11.5 points and 2.7 assists and had a team-high 63 three-pointers for the Stags, earning All-SCIAC honors again after previously earning the distinction as an undergraduate at Redlands. His season included 31 points and eight three-pointers in a home win over Pomona-Pitzer and a game-winning baseline stepback with four seconds left in a home win over Chapman. He also had 24 points and seven threes in a home win over Whittier in December.
CMS earned the No. 3 seed in the conference tournament, and will have a rematch with Redlands on Friday night in the semifinals after splitting the two regular season meetings. The winner will advance to Sunday's championship game against either Cal Lutheran or Whittier.
