CLAREMONT, Calif. -
Reid Jones and
Will Householter of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's basketball team earned second-team all-region honors from D3hoops.com, the website announced today.
Jones and Householter both started every game in the CMS backcourt and helped the Stags to a 23-5 record and an appearance in the NCAA Regionals for the third year in a row, where they advanced to the second round.
Jones earned second-team All-SCIAC honors after finishing the year averaging 15.2 points per game and leading the nation in steals at 3.6 per game. He was a three-time SCIAC Defensive Player of the Week selection, and had three different games with double-doubles in points and steals, including 13 steals in a win over Puget Sound. His 102 steals broke the old program record by 34 (68 by Brian Smith in 1997-98).
Householter was a first-team All-SCIAC selection after leading CMS in scoring at 18.8 points per game, and going over the 1000 point plateau for his career (1016) at the NCAA Regionals. His season included a 32-point night in a win over Chapman, and a 29-point performance in a home win over Linfield.
The Stags broke the program record for best start to a season, opening up the year 16-0, and reached the NCAA Tournament for the third season in a row for the first time in program history.
