MOORPARK, Calif. - The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's golf team tied for fourth out of 13 teams at the Cal Lutheran Kingsmen Invitational on Monday and Tuesday at the Moorpark Country Club.
Jamison Tan was the top individual finisher for the Stags, finishing at +2 to tie for ninth overall with a pair of 73s. while
Ryan Liang was second at +7, placing him 23rd.
Jack Rende tied Tan for the low score for the Stags on Monday's opening round with a 73 (+1), while
Yuefeng (Michael) Ma had the second-lowest score for CMS on Tuesday at 76 (+4).
Tan's Tuesday round included an eagle on the par-5 fifth hole, which was his 17th hole of the day after starting on No. 7, and ended a stretch in which he was -5 over nine holes from the 15th through the 5th. Ma had back-to-back birdies on the fourth and fifth.
Liang had an eagle on the par-5 seventh hole on Monday, which was also his 17th hole of the day.
Yiqi (Andy) Sun closed out Monday with two straight birdies for a +3 on the day, while Tan had birdies on the 8th and 9th on Monday, his second and third holes of the day. Rende started on No. 8 and picked up birdies on No. 9 and No. 11 to open up his round at -2 through the first four.
CMS finished win a three-way tie four fourth with Whitman and Menlo, six shots behind Cal Lutheran, which edged out Redlands by one stroke and Trinity (Texas) by three in a tight battle.
The Stags will be back in action next week when they travel to Georgia to compete at the Jekyll Island Invitational.
