GREENSBORO, N.C. -
Mackenzie Mayfield qualified for the championship final in the 200-yard butterfly, earning first-team All-America honors for the second time this week, on the third day of the NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.
Mayfield also earned first-team All-America honors in the 200 IM on Wednesday, finishing eighth, and then made it into the 200 fly finals by a margin of .26, coming in seventh in prelims. She then came in seventh in the final to earn her way onto the podium for the second time.
Sun Young Byun, who was a first-team All-America in the 100 fly yesterday, earned second-team honors in the 200 fly by earning her way into the consolation final, where she finished 16th.
CMS also had a second-team All-America relay, as
Annette Chang,
Milan Manfredi, Mayfield, and
Madeleine Kan earned their way into the evening session in the 200-yard medley relay, coming in 16th. The 800-yard freestyle relay team missed second-team All-America honors by one spot, as Byun,
Allison Nguyen,
Avalon Sanders and
Katy Shaw came in 17th place.
CMS will be back in action tomorrow for the final day of the NCAA Championships. Shaw and
Revere Schmidt will be in action in the 1650, while Kan will compete in the 100 free, and
Izzy Doud and
Meilan Uyeno will compete in the three-meter dive.
