CLAREMONT, Calif. -
Josephine Jett earned invitations to the NCAA Division III Championships in both the 100-meter hurdles and the 100-meter dash, while
Sophia Laudi qualfied in the javelin, the NCAA announced today.
Jett will enter the NCAA Division III Championships as the No. 5 seed in the 100-meter hurdles, where she holds a CMS record with a time of 13.96. She also is seeded No. 10 in the 100-meter dash with an 11.74, which ranks No. 2 in CMS history, behind only two-time national champion Tyra Abraham. Â
Jett broke the CMS record in the hurdles five times, the first coming when she ran a 14.30 at the first SCIAC Quad Meet on March 1, and culminating with a 13.96 at the Franson Last Chance meet at Azusa Pacific last week.Â
Laudi, meanwhile, broke the CMS record in the javelin with a throw of 132'9" at the first SCIAC Quad Cup, and then reached 135'5" at the SCIAC Championships to win the title. That league-winning throw earned her a spot in the NCAA Championships by a margin of just two-inches (the top 22 qualify).Â
The NCAA Championships will be held from May 22-24 at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio. Laudi will compete in the javelin on Thursday, May 22, and Jett will run her prelims on Friday, May 23, hoping to advance to the finals the following day.Â
