Arnold He shot a 63 (-7) and
Logan Mills shot a 64 in his college debut as the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's golf team earned first-place at the Chapman Quad Cup at Costa Mesa Country Club.
CMS finished with a 262 as a team (-18) to defeat Occidental by four strokes and Chapman by seven, with La Verne finishing at +6 in fourth place.
He had two eagles on his round, with a three on the par-5 seventh hole and a two on the par-four 13th. He was at -8 at one point on his round, before settling for a -7.
Mills had seven birdies and a bogey on his way to a 64, including a birdie on 18 to finish off his round. He also had four straight birdies on the 8th through 11th holes.
Austin Wang, who was also making his debut, had a streak of four straight birdies on the front nine (5th through 8th) before finishing with a 67 (-3).
Samson Li (68) and
Sebi Aliaga (69) also finished in the red in their first collegiate competitions, with Aliaga running off four straight birdies on the back nine from the 12th through the 15th.
CMS will be back in action on Friday when it competes in a dual against La Verne.
