CLAREMONT, Calif. -
Riley Capuano of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's cross country team earned the SCIAC Athlete of the Week honor for events through Sunday, Sept. 21, the league office announced today.
Capuano earned the honor after the Athenas dominated the field to win the Division III Pre-Nationals in Spartanburg, South Carolina on Saturday. She came in second place overall in 21:56.5, finishing behind only Adriana Crabtree of Illinois Wesleyan in 21:47.6, as CMS totaled 22 points, well ahead of second-place Vassar with 79.
A two-time All-American, Capuano earned the SCIAC honor for the second time this season already, after winning the Coyote Challenge in her season debut on Sept. 6.
CMS will be back in action on Saturday when it travels to compete at the UC Riverside Invitational.
