LA VERNE, Calif. - The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's golf team shot a 274 (-6) as a team to win a dual with La Verne by 21 strokes on Friday afternoon at Marshall Canyon Golf Course.
The win marked the second first-place finish for the Stags in their first two events, after also winning the Chapman Quad Match last weekend.
Arnold He was the individual medalist for the second week in a row as well, finishing with a -3. He opened his round with an eagle on the par-5 first hole, and added birdies on No. 4 and No. 6 to get as low as -4 on his round.
Sebi Aliaga was the runner-up just one shot behind He at -2, his second straight round in the red after opening his career with a -1 last week, while
Ryan Liang was -1 and
Samson Li shot even par.
Aliaga closed out his round with a birdie on 18, while Liang had three birdies in a row on No. 8, No. 9 and No. 10 and used a birdie on No. 16 to finish in the red.
Jack Rende ended at +1 for the Stags, while
Logan Mills was at +2, tying La Verne's top finisher (Trevor Ruiz).
Austin Wang closed with nine straight pars on the back nine for a +3.
CMS will be back in action when it travels on Monday to Carmel, California to play at the 54-hole PCH Classic, hosted by Menlo at Quail Lodge Golf Course. The Classic will feature 36 holes on Monday and 18 on Tuesday.
