CLAREMONT, Calif. -
Katie Resendiz of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's soccer team earned the SCIAC Offensive Athlete of the Week Award for games through Sunday, Jan. 11, the conference office announced today.
Resendiz averaged 20 points as CMS took over sole possession of first place in the SCIAC with wins over Occidental and Chapman. She had a double-double with 21 points and 11 rebounds in the win at Occidental, and followed up with 19 points in a key win over Chapman on Saturday.
CMS is now 12-2 on the year, including 12-1 with Resendiz in the lineup (11 wins in a row), after she missed a loss to Hamline on Dec. 28. She becomes the fourth different honoree for CMS after
Payton Sugar won Offensive Player of the Week, and
Renee Chong and
Caleigh Edwards picked up Defensive Player of the Week.
The Athenas return to action with a pair of home games this week, including a critical SCIAC matchup with Cal Lutheran on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. CMS will then step out of league to host Hardin-Simmons on Friday morning at 11 a.m.
