CLAREMONT, Calif. - Sophomore kicker
Sean Lee of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps football team earned the SCIAC Special Teams Player of the Week for the second time this season for games through Saturday, Oct. 17, the conference office announced today.
Lee was 3-for-3 on field goals, including a 56-yarder, and 4-4 on extra points, as CMS shut out Whittier 39-0 to remain perfect in the SCIAC. His 56-yarder is behind only Matthew Aven's 62-yarder in 2013 in CMS history, which tied an NCAA Division III record at the time.
Lee also made field goals from 41 yards and 46 yards against the Poets, and is now 11-15 on the season on field goals, including 6-7 on field goals of 40 yards or longer (with two of his misses blocked). He won the SCIAC Special Teams Player of the Week for the first time after hitting a CMS-record five field goals in a 22-10 win over Pomona-Pitzer.
CMS will be back in action when it travels to Chapman on Saturday in a battle of teams tied for first in conference play at 4-0.
