SPOKANE, Wash. -
Josephine Jett ran an 8.64 in the 60-meter hurdles, the No. 5 time in Division III so far this season, to highlight the performance of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's track and field team at the Whitworth Indoor Invitational.
Jett, who earned All-America honors in the hurdles in both indoor and outdoor season last year, now stands in excellent shape for a return visit to indoor nationals next month after finishing in third at Whitworth. Jett also ran a 7.84 in the 60 meters during her weekend performance, which placed 10th.
In other action,
Madeline Seifert cleared 12 feet, 2.5 inches in the pole vault to finish in first place, which ranks No. 21 in the Division III. Seifert also had a long jump of 17 feet, 1.5 inches, which placed her third.
Shriya Velichala ran a 1:03.52 in the 400 meters and
Kaitlyn Creighton was right behind her in 1:03.78 for a new personal best.
Emily Ortiz finished in third in the weight throw at 48'6", and also threw the shot put 35 feet, 8.5 inches, placing her 10th.
CMS will be back in action next week when it returns outdoors to compete in the Pomona-Pitzer All-Comers meet.
