CLAREMONT, Calif. -
Jaden Rattay of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's track and field team earned the SCIAC Athlete of the Week Award for events through Sunday, Feb. 8, the conference office announced today.
Rattay won the 400 meters and then anchored the 4x400 relay to a comeback win at the season-opening OIDFE Challenge. Rattay ran a 48.80 in the individual 400 meter dash, and then had a 47.9 leg to finish off a 3:20.09 relay as CMS came from behind to defeat Nevada State by just over two seconds.
Rattay was part of the CMS 4x400 relay team that qualified for nationals last season, and also plays on the CMS football team, scoring the game-winning touchdown at George Fox this year on a 96-yard touchdown reception, the longest play from scrimmage in program history.
CMS will be back in action this weekend when it travels to the Whitworth Indoor Invitational.
