CLAREMONT, Calif. -
Ella Brown of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's lacrosse team earned the SCIAC Offensive Player of the Week Award for games through Sunday, March 15, the conference office announced today.
Brown doubled her previous career high in goals by scoring six times as CMS held off No. 21 Colorado College for a 17-15 win. She had five of her goals in the second half to help CMS build a six-goal lead (17-11), after it was tied 7-7 in the third, including a stretch overlapping the third and fourth quarters where she had three CMS goals in a row, taking the score from 11-8 to 14-9.
Brown came into the game with seven goals on the season (with a high of three against Bates, tying her career high) and nearly matched that in one afternoon. She becomes the third different honoree for CMS so far this season, after
Julia Ryan won Offensive Player of the Week after an opening week win against Cal Lutheran, and
Lyla Johnston earned Defensive Player of the Week after wins over Bates and Chapman.
CMS will be back in action tomorrow night to face No. 5 Amherst at Zinda Field, beginning at 7 p.m.
