CLAREMONT, Calif. -
Alisa Ching of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's golf team earned the SCIAC Athlete of the Week honor for events through Sunday, March 22, the conference office announced today.
Ching earned a second-place finish (out of 120 golfers) at the Jekyll Island Invitational this weekend in a field that included 24 teams. She had her best round on Saturday's second round, shooting a -4 (68) over her 18 holes, beginning on the 9th hole with a birdie, and ending with five birdies in her final eight holes, including three in a row to close out on holes 6-8.
Ching finished at +6 for her three rounds, tying her with Zimo Li of Emory, who came in ranked No. 1 in the country, and Cecilia Jia of Carnegie Mellon, who was ranked No. 15. Amanda Zheng of Emory won the individual championship at even par.
CMS will next be in action at SCIAC No. 2, which will be held April 3-4 at Tukwet Canyon in Beaumont.
