CLAREMONT, Calif. -
Celestina Cedillo-Vayson de Pradenne of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's tennis team earned the SCIAC Athlete of the Week Award for matches through Sunday, March 22, the conference office announced today.
Cedillo-Vayson de Pradenne was 4-0 on the week in singles and doubles, as the top-ranked Athenas earned wins over No. 14 Amherst and No. 3 Chicago. She moved up to No. 1 doubles with
Lindsay Eisenman last week against Bowdoin, and picked a pair of 6-2 wins this week.
In singles, she won 11 games in a row against Amherst to come back from 5-2 down in the first to win 7-5, 6-0 and put the Athenas ahead 3-1 in its eventual 5-2 win. Against Chicago, she earned the clincher with a hard-fought 7-5, 6-4 win, which proved to be crucial as the other three matches all went three sets, but with the match already clinched, those matches were all decided in pro-set tiebreakers (with CMS winning all three).
CMS will be back in action this week with three home matches, facing MIT on Thursday and Middlebury and Cal Lutheran on Friday.
