EAGLE ROCK, Calif. -
Kaden Cassidy led a throws sweep with wins in both the hammer and discus, as the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's track and field took first in 12 different events to dominate the first SCIAC Quad Cup, held at Occidental on Saturday.
CMS finished with 255 points at the Quad Cup, while Occidental had 120, Redlands 105 and La Verne 79.
Cassidy went over 200 feet in the hammer for the second straight weekend, throwing 201'9" to approach his throw of 210'0" that placed him second at nationals last year. He also had a first-place finish in the discus at 144'9", while
Cian Bryant won the javelin at 167'8" and
Aidan Cho took first in the shot put at 45'11.25" for the Stags.
The Stags finished first in both relays, as
Aiden Owens,
Max Even,
Evan Siegel and
Jaden Rattay earned a 41.72 in the 4x100. Even,
Richard Burrow,
Oliver Thompson and Rattay also won the 4x400 in 3:18.19.
Rattay added a win in the 400 meters at 48.57, edging Thompson's 48.70, while
Ellis DelVecchio edged Burrow in the 800 meters (1:53.75 to 1:54.60), and
Jonas Rickert picked up a half-second win over
Rowan Haywood-O'Neill in the 1500 (3:56.54 to 3:57.04).
Hayden Beauchemin earned first in the steeplechase at 9:20.10, with
Jacob Pippel earning second in 9:32.41.
Diego Amescua was the winner in the pole vault at 13'11.25", while Collin Lakkaraju earned first in the triple jump at exactly 14 meters (45'11.25").
CMS will be back in action next weekend at the Occidental Distance Carnival and Spring Break Classic.
