EAGLE ROCK, Calif. -
Sophia Laudi broke her own program record in the javelin for the second time already this season, leading a throws sweep, and
Madeline Seifert swept both the long jump and the pole vault, as the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's track and field team dominated the first SCIAC Quad Cup with 13 event wins on Saturday at Occidental.
Josephine Jett also had two event wins by sweeping the 100-meter dash and the 100-meter hurdles. CMS finished with 315 points at the Quad Cup, while Occidental had 133 and Redlands 118.Â
Laudi broke 140 feet in the javelin for the first time with a throw of 143'8", eclipsing her old CMS standard by five feet, set at the Pomona-Pitzer All-Comers meet two weeks ago.Â
CMS swept all four throwing events as well, with four different throwers earning wins.
Emily Ortiz took first in the hammer at 138'3", Catherine Novy won the discus at 131'4" and
Lorrell Shiely won the shot put at 37'6.75" for the Athenas.Â
Seifert had a long jump of 17'0.75" and took her third pole vault win of the year by clearing 11'1.75". Jett won the 100 hurdles in 14.89 seconds,
Shriya Velichala won the 400 hurdles in 1:06.51, and
Emily Kendrick took first in the steeplechase at 11:17.11.Â
The distance events saw CMS go 1-4 in the 1500 with
Riley Capuano winning in 4:38.14, followed by
Sadie Drucker,
Sienna Faidi and
Olivia Backholm.
Jie Yi Denise Chen won the 5000 in 18:03.94, with
Brannan Rosenfeld second.Â
The Athenas also added a win in the 4x100 relay, with
Luna Young, Jett, Velichala and
Sydney Behrens clocking 48.11 seconds.Â
CMS will be back in action when it returns to Occidental for the Distance Carnival and Spring Break Classic next weekend.Â
