CLAREMONT, Calif. -
Jonas Rickert recorded the No. 6 time in CMS history in the 1500 meters at the Bryan Clay Invitational at Azusa Pacific, and
Kavin Prasanna moved up to No. 8 in the hammer throw at the Mt. SAC Relays on Saturday on the final day of a busy week at multiple events for the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's track and field team.
Rickert had a time of 3:48.02 at the Bryan Clay Invitational, chopping almost three seconds off his PR of 3:50.73 set at the UC San Diego Triton Invitational earlier this season. His time places him 10th in Division III so far this season in his bid to qualify for nationals.
Prasanna, meanwhile, threw 188 feet even at the Mt. SAC Relays, adding just over two feet to his previous best of 185'8" set twice last season. He now ranks No. 16 in Division III, with
Kaden Cassidy still holding down the No. 1 spot at 213'3" set earlier this year.
In addition, the 4x400 relay team of
Max Even,
Aiden Owens,
Ellis DelVecchio and
Jaden Rattay moved into fifth all-time at CMS with a time of 3:12.95, which ranks seventh in Division III so far this year.
Earlier this week at the La Verne Invitational,
Jacob Pippel ran a 8:59.77 to become only the second member of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's track and field team to break nine minutes, joining teammate
Hayden Beauchemin, who ran an 8:56.77 on his way to a national qualification as a sophomore in 2024.
Evan Siegel also moved up the CMS ranks in the 110-meter hurdles at La Verne with a 14:90, which places him No. 5 in CMS history. Meanwhile, at the Bryan Clay Invitational at Azusa Pacific,
Pierce Clark had another strong run in the 800 meters, less than a half-second off his PR with a 1:50.74.
Diego Amescua came closer to the CMS top 10 in the pole vault with a new PR at La Verne with a clearance of 14'11".
Arnav Shetty was second in the 1500 meters at La Verne with a 3:56.61, with
Rowan Haywood-O'Neill third and
Matthew Jabro fourth.
Aidan Cho was second in the shot put,
Richard Burrow was fourth in the 800 meters and Owens was fifth in the 200 meters.
Heading into the SCIAC Championships, several members of the Stags are in strong contention to qualify for nationals, led by Cassidy's No. 1 ranking in the hammer. In addition, DelVecchio is currently fifth and Clark seventh in the 800 meters, Rattay is eighth in the 400 meters, Pippel is eighth in the steeplechase, and Even is 23rd in the 200 meters.
