Riley Capuano Wins SCIAC Athlete of the Week for Athenas Track and Field

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Riley Capuano of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's track and field team earned the SCIAC Track Athlete of the Week for events through Sunday, April 5, the conference office announced today.

Capuano finished fifth in the 1500 meters, behind only two Division I runners and two unattached runners, with a time of 4:27.66 to highlight the performance of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's track and field team at the UC San Diego Invitational on Saturday. Capuano's performance ranks sixth in Division III so far this as she tries to return back to nationals after finishing second as a sophomore in the 1500 in 2024 and then studying abroad last spring. She earned All-America honors for the third time in cross country during the fall season.

CMS has now won the SCIAC Track Athlete of the Week five times this season, with Josephine Jett winning it three times and Elle Marsyla winning once, while also winning the SCIAC Field Athlete of the Week three times, with Sophia Laudi winning two and Madeline Seifert winning one.

The Athenas will be back in action this weekend at the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational on Saturday.
