Box Score CLAREMONT, Calif. – The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's soccer team triumphs over Cal Lutheran 2-1 on Saturday at Pritzlaff Field. The Athenas took the lead in the first half and went on to beat the #1 ranked team in SCIAC.
The first goal scored by the Athenas happened after a CMS corner kick that was cleared by a Regal out to the ready and waiting junior D Samantha Kunz. Kunz lofted the ball back into the fray and junior D Gabriela Ozer drove it past the keeper to put the Athenas on the board.
CMS led 1-0 at half time despite the eight shots by Cal Lutheran.
The Athenas struck again in the 51st minute during the second half. This time senior F Kerry Moller scored and was assisted by freshman D Hannah Rosenberg.
A foul was called on CMS in the goalie box and the Regals were awarded a penalty kick. Senior F Kristina Hulse took the free kick and scored.
With a final score of 2-1, CMS not only recorded their first conference win but defeated the #1 ranked team in SCIAC.
The Athenas travel to Redlands to play the Bulldogs on Wednesday (10/2) at 7 pm.
