CLAREMONT, Calif. - Five members of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's soccer team earned All-Region X honors from the United Soccer Coaches, the organization announced this morning.
Senior center back
Ivy Doran, senior midfielder
Cate Lewison and junior forward
Jordan Yates earned first-team all-region distinction. Senior goalkeeper
Sadie Brown earned a spot on the second team, while junior midfielder
Flora Glantz earned third-team distinction.
Doran had a major role in the Athenas' success this season, stepping into a starting center back role and leading a defense that allowed only 12 goals in 20 games. She started in 19 games, and also contributed two assists offensively.
Yates and Lewison were the two leading scorers on the team, with Yates finishing with eight goals and one assist for 17 points, despite having her season cut short by injury. She had five goals in the first five games of the season, and had two-goal games against UC Santa Cruz and Redlands.
Lewison finished the year with three goals and five assists for 11 points to earn first-team All-Region honors for the second year in a row. She picked up two assists on both Yates goals in the win over UC Santa Cruz, as well as a goal and two assists against Redlands, finishing her career with 14 goals and 12 assists (despite missing most of her sophomore season).
Brown finished the season with an impressive statline of an 0.61 goals against average and an .877 save percentage, earning eight shutouts and combining on two more. She had a pair of eight-save games, and concluded her career with 20 shutouts and 29 career wins, with a goals against average of under a goal per game (0.85).
Glantz earned all-region for the second year in a row, after taking second-team honors last season. She finished the year with four goals and an assist, and now has 11 goals through three seasons.
The all-region winners are now eligible for All-America honors, which will be announced on Dec. 4.
