CLAREMONT, Calif. -
Alisha Chulani earned the No. 2 seed in both singles and doubles at the ITA West Regionals, which get underway in Claremont on Friday morning.
Chulani and
Ella Brissett open doubles play at 8:30 a.m. against Sydney La and Lucy Wallin of Chapman at the Biszantz Family Tennis Center. Chulani will then take on Sara Beckman of UC Santa Cruz in the first round of singles at 2 p.m.
Sophomore
Jade Haller also is seeded in the singles tournament, drawing the No. 6 seed and opening against Kiana Brady of Redlands at 1:30 p.m., while Brissett is the No. 8 seed and opens against Kristina Lee of Occidental at 1:30. Sophomore
Muduo Zhou and first-years Celestina Cedillo Vayson de Pradenne,
Emily Ing, and
Rebecca Kong will also be in the A flight for singles.
Haller and Cedillo will be the No. 4 seed in doubles and open up against Grace Wilson and Naya Kessman of Caltech. Kong and Ing will be in the doubles tournament as well, also matching up with Caltech (Polaris Hayes and Katelyn Waugh).
The ITA West Regional Tournament will run all day Friday and Saturday, with the championship rounds held at the Biszantz Family Tennis Center on Sunday. The top finishers in the A flights for singles and doubles will advance to the ITA Cup in Rome, Georgia in two weeks.
