REDLANDS, Calif. - The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's swimming and diving team won all 16 events, including four pool records, as it cruised to a win over Redlands in the final regular season SCIAC meet at the Thompson Aquatic Center.
Evan Deedy swept the breaststroke events in pool record times, taking the 100 in 55.06, and the 200 in 2:02.04. CMS opened with a new pool record in the 200-yard medley relay, as
Jeremy Tan, Deedy,
Dylan Krueger and
Theo Johnson won in 1:32.50, while
Lucas Lang won the 1000-yard freestyle in 9:43.08, surpassing the pool record held by current CMS assistant coach Tom Jansen (9:44.72 in 2021).
Sean Su was a triple-winner in the 100 free (46.45), the 200 free (1:43.55) and the 200 IM (1:54.90). Krueger led a 1-2-3 finish in the 50 free with a 21.23, finishing ahead of Johnson (21.33) and
Spencer Merodio (21.78) in second and third.
Cole Sumino added a win in the 500 free in 4:43.71 for a distance sweep.
Grant Stucky took first in the 100 back in 53.70, and
Jeremy Tan took the 200 back in 1:55.48.
Tyler Headley won the 100 fly in 51.72 to edge out teammate Collin Fitzaptrick in 51.90, and
Adam VanLuvanee won the 200 fly in 1:55.33.
Logan Mansfield took first in the three-meter dive with 290.30 points, with
Ethan Sattley second.
Luke Vlases took the one-meter dive with 306.45 points, followed by
Jack Griffith and Mansfield.
The Stags capped off the meet with the top two times in the 400 free relay, as
Alex Davies, Tan, Johnson, and Krueger won it in 3:10.69.
CMS will be back in action next week for the UC Santa Barbara Invitational before its final home meet on Feb. 8, when it hosts the CMS Invitational.
