Brooke McKee of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps volleyball team earned the SCIAC Offensive Player of the Week honor for matches through Sunday, Nov. 2, the conference office announced today, the third time this season that she has earned the honor.
McKee had 56 kills and eight aces in a 3-0 week for the Athenas, tallying 16 against Redlands (with five aces and 12 digs), 17 kills against Occidental, and 23 against Chapman, producing many timely points in tight sets in all three matches. In a 3-1 win over Redlands, she had four aces in a 9-0 run in the fourth set that turned a 16-13 deficit into a 22-16 lead. She also had a kill at 24-23 in the third set to put CMS up 2-1.
Against Occidental, McKee had three kills in a row up 22-21 to finish off the second set, and then had the set-winner at 24-22 in the second set.
In the win against Chapman, McKee had five kills in a 12-0 run in the fourth that turned a 21-13 deficit into a 25-21 win. She had the tying kill to make it 21-21, the go-ahead to kill to make it 22-21, and the kill on match point to win it 25-21.
CMS will be back in action tomorrow for a 7 p.m. road contest at Whittier before returning home to face Pomona-Pitzer on Friday night at 7 p.m., which will be Senior Day for McKee and fellow senior
