SANTA BARBARA, Calif. -
Dean Ko became the seventh swimmer in CMS men's swimming and diving history to break four minutes in the 400 IM, finishing in 3:59.51, to highlight the Stags' performance at the UC Santa Barbara Invitational on Saturday.
Ko finished third overall in an event that included seven swimmers from Division I UC Santa Barbara in the top eight. He also passed his previous best of 4:00.51 by exactly one second, which he set earlier this season.
In other events,
Jeremy Tan finished second in the 100 back with a 50.47, edging out Taisei Saito of UCSB for the runner-up spot.
Lucas Lang was second in the 1650 free with a 15:33.27, trimming over 13 seconds off his season-best time as he looks to defend his national title at the NCAA Championships in March.
Lang was also third in the 200 free with a 1:43.89, just ahead of
Alex Davies in fourth with a 1:43.90.
Weston Crewe (50.77) and
Collin Fitzpatrick (50.88) had their fastest times of the season in the 100 fly.
CMS will close out the regular season next week when it hosts the CMS Invitational at Axelrood Pool, starting at 10:30 a.m., which will also be Senior Day for the program's Class of 2025.
