CLAREMONT, Calif. -
Dean Ko of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's swimming and diving team earned the SCIAC Swimmer of the Week honor for events through Sunday, Feb. 2, the SCIAC office announced today.
Ko became the seventh swimmer in CMS men's swimming and diving history to break four minutes in the 400 IM, finishing in 3:59.51, to highlight the Stags' performance at the UC Santa Barbara Invitational on Saturday. Ko finished third overall in an event that included seven swimmers from Division I UC Santa Barbara in the top eight. He also passed his previous best of 4:00.51 by exactly one second, which he set earlier this season.
Ko becomes the sixth different Stag to be honored by the SCIAC this season.
Evan Deedy won the SCIAC Swimmer of the Week last week after setting two pool records at Redlands in the breaststroke in the final dual meet of the regular season.

Kenny Eckel have also won the SCIAC Swimmer of the Week honor, while
Cyrus Gaylord has earned the Diver of the Week.
CMS will be back in action when it has its final home meet on Saturday, hosting the CMS Invitational, which will begin at 10:30 a.m. following a Senior Day ceremony at 10:10 a.m.
