LA VERNE, Calif. - The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's swimming and diving team had a dominant performance in taking dual wins over Cal Lutheran 222-70 and host La Verne 240-32 on Saturday.
The Stags had the top five finishers on both diving boards to open the meet, with
Beckett Heywood earning the win in the three-meter and
Logan Mansfield taking first place in the three-meter. CMS then opened the swimming portion of the meet with the top two teams in the 200-yard medley relay, with
Adam Lee,
Evan Deedy,
Jasper Shue and
Sean Su taking first in 1:34.65.
Reigning SCIAC Swimmer of the Week
Pierce McShane took the first individual swimming win for CMS in the 200 free in 1:43.71, his first of three wins of the day, with
Kenny Eckel second and
William Jones third. Lee then took first in the 100 back in 53.03, ahead of teammate
Alex Jiang in second in 53.84.
Deedy was the winner in the 100 breast as the only swimmer to come in under a minute in 58.97, while
Clarence Cheam earned second.
Jayden Kadiman was the first-place finisher in the 200 fly in 1:55.11, with Shue taking second and
Dean Ko earning third.Â
Su edged Jack Backman in the 50 free 21.32 to 21.61 to close the first session, and Shue started the second session with a win in the 100 free in 47.34. Lee swept the backstroke events with a 1:56.71, winning by 3.55 seconds, and Eckel earned a first-place finish in the 200 breast in 2:05.94.Â
McShane won his second race of the day in the 500 free in 4:51.18, and Kadiman added his second butterfly win by edging teammate
Tyler Headley 52.05 to 52.19 in the 100. McShane then won his third race for the second week in a row, this time taking the 400 IM in 4:09.43.
Kadiman, Shue, Beckman and Su finished off the meet with a win in the 200 free relay, touching the wall in 1:25.06.
CMS will be back in action on Saturday when it hosts UC Santa Barbara for a 12 p.m. meet at Axelrood Pool.Â
