William Jones took first in the 1650 and
Jasper Shue was the winner in the 200 free as the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's swimming and diving team fell 167-93 to Division I UC Santa Barbara on Saturday afternoon at Axelrood Pool.
Jones finished the 1650 in 15:52.46, a win over almost 30 seconds over teammate
Charlie Hill, with
Henry Lyons coming in third. Jones was barely behind his time from December in the dual with Pomona-Pitzer, when he swam a 15:51.85. He later added a second-place finish in the 500 free in 4:38.04, with Hill coming in third.Â
Shue had an impressive effort in his win in the 200 free, touching the wall in 1:40.54, a win of almost a full second over Lucas Hubbard of the Gauchos.Â
Adam Lee came in second in the 100 back in 51.83, just a half second behind the winner, William Cussimanio of UC Santa Barbara.
Steven Tran was the runner-up in the 200 breast in 2:05.63, with
Lucas Williams behind him in third in 2:07.56.
Pierce McShane added a runner-up finish in the 400 IM in 3:58.36.
Evan Deedy was third in the 100 breast in 56.45,
Kenny Eckel earned third in the 50 free in 20.95, and
Sean Su earned third in the 100 free in 45.31, and
Dean Ko placed third in the 200 back in 1:57.89.Â
Su, Shue,
Jayden Kadiman and
Jack Beckman capped off the race with a second-place finish in the 200 free relay in 1:32.62.
CMS will be back in action on Saturday for its final regular season home meet against Redlands, which will also serve as the program's Senior Day, beginning at 10:30 a.m.
