Nick Kennedy of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's water polo team earned the SCIAC Offensive Player of the Week Award for games through Sunday, Oct. 4, the conference office announced this afternoon.
Kennedy had at least a hat trick in every game in a 3-2 week for the Stags, tallying 19 goals and 13 assists over the five contests. He had 10 points in an 18-16 win over Concordia on Friday, tallying four goals and six assists. He then had four goals and two assists in a win over Mt. St. Mary's on Saturday, followed by three goals and two assists in a 15-13 win over Air Force, including a late goal with 1:55 to go to put CMS up by three and seal it. Earlier in the week, Kennedy also had five goals in the second half against Pomona-Pitzer in a 10-9 defeat on Wednesday.
Kennedy's honor was the third from the SCIAC already this season.
Jack Bryant also won the Defensive Player of the Week last week after his sudden-death overtime game-winner at Redlands.
CMS will be back in action at Axelrood Pool this weekend for two home contests, taking on Whittier at 11 a.m. and Long Beach State at 2 p.m.
