CLAREMONT, Calif. -
Ari Clarkson won the SCIAC Offensive Player of the Week and
Solvej Eversoll earned the Defensive Player of the Week as the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps volleyball team swept both awards for matches through Sunday, Nov. 1, the conference office announced today.
Eversoll had 14 blocks in two matches as CMS picked up a pair of wins to move up to third in the SCIAC standings. She had five blocks in a quick 25-15, 25-10, 25-8 win over Pomona-Pitzer and then added nine more in a five-set win over La Verne, which came on her Senior Day. Clarkson, meanwhile had the two highest kill totals of her career on the week. She had 16 kills in 28 attempts in the win over Pomona-Pitzer on Tuesday, and then added 15 more against La Verne, including a cross-court kill into the corner on match point to win the fifth set 15-12. Clarkson had previously had two matches in her career in double figures in kills, 12 against Schreiner earlier this year and 11 against WashU last year.
CMS will be back in action when it hosts its final regular season home match against Azusa Pacific on Tuesday night at 7 p.m.
