Pierce McShane was runner-up in the 400 IM,
Evan Deedy took second in the 100 breast, and
Kenny Eckel added an All-SCIAC performance with a third-place finish in the 100 breast to highlight the performance of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's swimming and diving team on the third day of the SCIAC Championships on Friday at the East Los Angeles College Swim Center.
CMS stands in second place after the third day of competition with 555.5 points, while Pomona-Pitzer is in first with 670 and Chapman is in third with 430.5.
McShane added his second-place performance to his championship yesterday in the 500 free, while Eckel added an All-SCIAC effort today to his league title yesterday in the 200 IM.
McShane finished the 400 IM in 3:57.45 to take second place, while Deedy clocked a 55.03 to end up a close second in the 100 breast and Eckel had a personal-best 55.13 to finish third.
Jasper Shue came in fourth place in the 200 free in 1:39.66, while
Sean Su also broke 1:40 in 1:39.94 to take fifth.
Jack Beckman, Shue, Eckel and Su took third in the 200-yard freestyle relay to take All-SCIAC honors.
The final day of the SCIAC Championships will get underway in the morning with prelims in the 100 free, 200 fly, 200 breast and 200 back, while the 1650 and 400-yard free relay will also take place.
