CLAREMONT, Calif. — Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's swimming and diving closed out the 2026 regular season with a solid performance at the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational on Saturday.
Kenny Eckel earned a first-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 21.04, also claimed first in the 100-yard IM at 50.54, and led the 200-yard medley relay team to victory, along with
Evan Deedy,
Jasper Shue, and
Sean Su.
Alex Davies was the winner in the men's 200-yard backstroke in 1:53.61, winning by just one-tenth of a second.
Adam VanLuvanee was the lone swimmer in the 1650 and finished in 16:35.89 to take first.
Su also placed second in the 500-yard freestyle at 4:40.92 and was part of the second-place 200-yard freestyle relay team, clocking in at 1:23.24.
Jack Beckman was second behind Eckel in the 50 free in 21.70 seconds.
The Stags also had runner-up finishes on both diving boards.
Bennet Matazzoni took second in the one-meter with 298.20, and
Logan Mansfield finished third, scoring 290.10. On the three-meter,
Liam Graham placed second with 243.45; and
Zach Meisel was third, scoring 242.25.
CMS will next be in action for the SCIAC Championships, which will be held Feb. 18-21 at East Los Angeles College.
