CLAREMONT, Calif. -
Madeline Seifert of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's track and field team earned the SCIAC Field Athlete of the Week honor for events through Sunday, Feb. 8, the conference office announced today.
Seifert won the pole vault for the Athenas in the season-opening OIDFE Meet with a clearance of 11'11.75", over two feet higher than the second-place finisher. She also added a third place finish in her secondary event (long jump) at 16'6", which placed her behind only two competitors from Division II Vanguard.
Seifert is the two-time defending SCIAC Champion in the pole vault, finishing last year ranked No. 30 in the nation, and also came in third in the long jump at the SCIAC Championships to help CMS to a close win for the team title. She has also been a USTFCCCA All-West Region selection in the pole vault in each of the last two years.
CMS will be back in action this weekend at the Whitworth Indoor Invitational.
