CLAREMONT, Calif. -
Max Pemberton of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps baseball team earned the SCIAC Hitter of the Week Award for games through Sunday, March 15, the conference office announced today.
Pemberton hit 9-for-14 (.643) with 10 RBI to help CMS to a 4-0 record in its first four games at the Tucson Invitational Games, with wins over Hamline, Aurora, Mississippi University for Women, and Carthage. His four-game-output included four doubles and two home runs for a 1.357 slugging percentage, and he also was a perfect 3-3 stealing bases for the Stags.
Pemberton had nine RBI combined in two games on Saturday, including a 3-for-4, 6-RBI effort with two doubles and a homer in a win over Aurora. He also closed out the Tucson Invitational Games on Monday morning with a 3-for-3 effort in a win over Crown, a game which was not included for last week's nominations, finishing the tournament a blistering 12-for-17 (.706) with 11 RBI.
CMS has now had three SCIAC winners so far this season, with
Dillon Martin taking Hitter of the Week last week for his performance against Whitworth, and
Kody Perry taking Pitcher of the Week after a shutout in a win over Chapman.
The Stags will be back in action this weekend for a three-game series with Redlands, beginning with a single game at Azusa Pacific on Friday.
