CLAREMONT, Calif. -
Kody Perry of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps baseball team earned the SCIAC Pitcher of the Week Award for games through Sunday, March 1, the league office announced this afternoon.
Perry threw a complete-game four-hit shutout with 11 strikeouts and no walks as CMS defeated Chapman 3-0 in the first game of the series this weekend on Friday. Perry ended the game by striking out the side in the ninth, and he struck out the last batter of the inning six times, including each of the last five innings.
In addition, Perry only threw to two batters over the minimum, with double plays erasing leadoff singles in the seventh and eighth. He improved his record to 3-0 so far this season, with 19 innings pitched and no runs allowed, after throwing five shutout innings in wins over Mary Hardin-Baylor and Occidental in his first two starts.
CMS will be back in action this weekend for a four-game series with Whitworth, beginning with a single game on Friday, followed by a doubleheader on Saturday and a single game on Sunday.
