CLAREMONT, Calif. -
Dillon Martin of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps baseball team earned the SCIAC Hitter of the Week Award for games through Sunday, March 8, the conference office announced this afternoon.
Martin batted 9-for-16 with 12 RBI in a four-game series with Whitworth, helping CMS take three of the four games. He was 3-for-5 with two homers and 7 RBI in the opening game, including a grand slam in the first to put CMS ahead 4-3. He also batted 5-for-8 with a double, homer, and five RBI in the Saturday doubleheader, putting CMS ahead to stay in the opener with an RBI single, and hitting a two-run homer in the first in the nightcap to give CMS a 2-1 lead.
It marks the second week in a row that the Stags have had an award winner, after
Kody Perry earned the Pitcher of the Week Award last week after a shutout win over Chapman.
CMS will be back in action at the Tucson Invitational Games this weekend from Friday-Monday, beginning with a Friday game against Hamline.
