Josephine Jett Earns SCIAC Track Athlete of the Week Distinction for Athenas

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Josephine Jett of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's track and field team earned the SCIAC Track Athlete of the Week Award for events through Sunday, March 1, the conference office announced today.

Jett earned the win in the 100-meter hurdles at the Rossi Relays with a time of 14.10, not far off her CMS record of 13.96. She came from behind over the final stretch to edge out Eboselulu Omofoma of Biola, who finished in 14.23 seconds.

Jett also ran a strong leg of the 4x100 relay to help CMS finish fourth out of 13 teams in 47.92, which ranks sixth in CMS history, and in the sprint medley relay, helping CMS to the seventh best time in program history.

The Athenas earned a clean sweep of the SCIAC Awards, as Sophia Laudi was named the Field Athlete of the Week after taking first place in the javelin at the Rossi Relays

CMS will be back in action this weekend when it travels to Occidental for the first SCIAC Quad Cup on Saturday. Jett will then likely head to the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships in two weeks to compete in the 60-meter hurdles, where she currently ranks seventh nationally.
