Sophia Laudi Repeats as SCIAC Field Athlete of the Week for Athenas

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Sophia Laudi of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's track and field team earned the SCIAC Field Athlete of the Week Award for events through Sunday, March 1, the conference office announced today.

Laudi won the javelin at the Rossi Relays, with a throw of 138'3" - just five inches off her CMS record which she set last week at Pomona-Pitzer, when she also earned the SCIAC Field Athlete of the Week.

This week, Laudi won by a margin of almost 10 feet over Clara Mackison of Cal Poly Pomona, who finished in second at 128'10". She also joined Josephine Jett, who won the 100-meter hurdles and was named the SCIAC Track Athlete of the Week, in giving the Athenas a clean sweep of this week's award.

CMS will be back in action this weekend when it travels to Occidental for the first SCIAC Quad Cup on Saturday. Jett will then likely head to the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships in two weeks to compete in the 60-meter hurdles, where she currently ranks seventh nationally.
